General Information |
Lishui University is a comprehensive
university offering undergraduate programs. Its history can be
traced back to the “Chuzhou School”, set up in 1906. In May,
2004, the school developed into Lishui University with the
approval of the Ministry of Education. Lishui University is
endowed with the task of training all kinds of advanced
professionals for the economy and society of the Lishui City and
the Zhejiang Province as well.
The university covers a total area of more than 60 hectares
with a total floor space of 310,000 square meters. The equipment
and facilities for teaching cost a total of RMB 57.58 million
yuan. And its library has a collection of more than 970,000
volumes.
Lishui University consists of 11 colleges, including
Humanities, Mathematics and Physics, Foreign Languages,
Chemistry and Life Sciences, Computer and Information
Engineering, Education, Art, Trade and Management, Machine,
Electronics and Architecture Engineering, Medical College and
Department of Physical Education. There is also a college of
Continuing Education. The university offers 23 bachelor programs
and 47 junior college specialties. The university has an
enrolment of over 12,800 undergraduates. Among the total staff
of 962, there are 733 full-time teachers, including 39
professors and 221 associate professors.
The university has been active in international cultural
exchanges and cooperation. In recent years, the university has
established partnership with six universities abroad, such as
Kean University in USA, University of New Brunswick in Canada,
and ESERP University in Spain.
Lishui University has developed and adhered to the three
characteristics in the administration of the university:
regionalism, pedagogism and nationalism. To meet the need of
professionals from local industries and basic educational
schools, the university aims at training advanced professionals
with solid basic theories, strong practicing competence and
innovating spirit. The faculty and students in Lishui University
are endeavoring to build the university into a high-level and
qualified university with its own characteristics.
